In collaboration with Blacks of the Chesapeake and the Eastport Yacht Club, we assessed the greatest climate threats facing two communities in Maryland:
- The Pine Street Neighborhood Historic District, an historic, primarily African American community recognized on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, and
- Eastport, Annapolis, a maritime community that was annexed to Annapolis in 1951.
Through interviews and surveys, we identified the greatest perceived climate threat to each community: storms and extreme heat for Pine Street and storms and flooding in Eastport. We offer actionable recommendations to improve community resilience to these threats for each community.
